Circulating Fluidized Bed Boilers (CFBs)

To the engineers at Zampell, CFB's are an interesting challenge due to the intricate elements that all fit together and change during the operation of the unit. A variety of different materials come into play, given the various properties that can affect the refractory, including abrasion, high temperatures, thermal shock, oxidation, and the overall expansion and movement of the system.

In addition to the refractory, we also try to procure scaffold, insulation, sandblasting, and other work at each customer site.

CFB boilers also give our crews an opportunity to demonstrate their multiple abilities as a team.

These units often require our crews to do several of the following tasks in one job:

  • Scaffolding
  • Insulation
  • Laying Brick
  • Installing Tile & Shapes
  • Gunning Monolithic
  • Pouring Castable
  • Ramming Plastic
  • Specialty Shape Installation
  • Welding and Fabrication
  • Other Custom Designs

Zampell has participated in the construction and maintenance of several facilities, including:

  • PSNH - Schiller
  • NewPage Paper - Rumford, ME
  • Wheelabrator - Frackville
  • Von Roll Projects
