BOSTON, MA, USA – JULY 21, 2016 – ZAMPELL COMPANIES – At an event marking the 50th anniversary of Zampell, Brian Zampell was named the new president and CEO of Zampell by his father, Jim Zampell, current president and CEO of the company. As part of the transition, Jim Zampell will be assuming the role of Chairman of the Board, focusing on the strategic direction of Zampell.

“Today’s a big day for Brian,” Jim told a group of managers, salespeople, supervisors, and other key leaders of Zampell at the Hyatt Regency Boston Harbor on Thursday. “Effective immediately, Brian is the new President.”

This announcement marks the beginning of the third generation of Zampell leadership, and it came at an event focused on thanking Zampell’s many employees for their contributions to the company over the last 50 years, as well as highlighting the values that have made the company a success.

Many of the speakers referred to the continuation of values that include craftsmanship, safety, hard work, persistence, customer service, and family.  These same values contributed to the past success of Zampell and will ensure its success for many years to come.

The highlight of the event was a harbor cruise with all those in attendance, plus members of the Zampell family and key advisors to the family business.  The beautiful weather and sea air made for a great event and the party continued late into the evening on the patio of the hotel.  The night before, a welcome reception was held at the hotel where the main attraction was a reproduction of the original 1966 Chevrolet Zampell truck.

Tom Zampell, Jim Zampell’s father, founded Zampell in 1966 at the age of 49 after a 30-year career with General Electric.  In 1976, Jim Zampell joined the company full time and was elevated to President in 1981, giving him a 40-year career with the company, 35 of which were spent as the President and CEO.  Brian Zampell joined the company full time in 2006, after completing a degree in Civil Engineering and a Master’s in Business Administration.  In his closing address, Jim Zampell spoke about the importance of family and his vision for the company and its future.  His remarks focused on taking care of one another and he mentioned how proud he was of his children, Kristin and Brian, along with his happiness in being a grandfather.

Before Jim’s announcement, Brian took a moment to personally thank his father and the employees for their contributions to the company. Brian closed his comments by saying, “When I travel, and my father can’t make it for whatever reason, I always ask him, ‘Is there anything you want me to say to the employees?’ He always says, ‘Tell them thank you.’” He then told the crowd: “If there is one thing that you remember from this event, please remember, thank you, for your hard work, your dedication, and for being part of our family.” Brian went on to say, “There is one more person to thank…my father, Jim Zampell.”  At that point, the employees overwhelmingly stood up and applauded with a full standing ovation for all the support and accomplishments of Jim Zampell over his career.

Brian also included a special recognition for his mother, Christine Zampell, who has been instrumental in the success of the company through the many roles she has served, particularly with new ventures and the company real estate, and her support of Jim in his leadership.
