ZAMPELL LAUNCHES CORROSION SERVICE CAPABILITIES

NEWBURYPORT, MA, USA – July 8, 2020 – Zampell is proud to announce it’s expanding service capabilities to include corrosion in its USA operations.  With the recent hiring of project management personnel, establishing key vendor relationships, and building an inventory of products for emergency response capabilities, Zampell is hitting the ground running with safe, reliable service.  Zampell sees corrosion as an offering that will integrate seamlessly with its operational procedures and other service personnel.

The corrosion industry covers clients that utilize chemicals such as salt solutions, acids, bases, oxidizers, chlorine, solvents, and organics.  Industries that use these chemicals include power generation, chemical processing, pulp and paper, wastewater, and mining mineral extraction.  The main product used for linings and products is fiber-reinforced plastic (FRP).  Other products may include polymer reinforced concretes, rubber, and corrosion resistant tiles.

Brian Zampell remarked, “The need for corrosion products and maintenance crosses all aspects of Zampell’s client base.  Given the stringent requirements on engineering, safety, and craftsmanship for chemical management and containment, it’s a great fit with the Zampell culture.  We’re excited to add new capabilities and we’re committed to doing this work, like everything we do, the right way.”

FRP has a broad range of applications in Zampell’s core industries.  For example, in power generation, FRP is utilized in scrubbers, piping, ductwork, water processing, and cooling towers.  In chemical processing, FRP is an integral part of every facility for piping, tanks, pressure vessels, linings, and other areas of the facility.  Pulp and paper also utilizes FRP for piping, ductwork, tanks, hoods, scrubbers, and stacks.  Many of these applications take the place of stainless steel or other expensive alloys, including access components around processing equipment like grating and ladders.  FRP, when reinforced with structural components, proves to be an extremely robust, lower cost, and longer lasting solution for many applications that were traditionally solved with steel.

Lee Rollins, Vice President of Engineering at Zampell, said, “I like this new direction for Zampell and how we can offer some unique, highly technical solutions in some difficult areas where steel or refractories were unable to survive.  Unlike metals, FRP is unaffected by the stresses caused by attack due to chlorides, oxidation, or galvanic corrosion.  I’m excited for myself and my team to learn more about how these products are inspected, repaired, and improved for longevity.”

Sean Case, Chief Operating Officer, commented, “The fact that it’s a service business with potential for larger projects is a model that fits our current operations.  I like that it’s focused on being there for your clients when they need you while providing steady work for a talented and dedicated workforce.”
